Rodeo Break

This past weekend was Rodeo Break (Thur-Sun.)  It was nice to back to work for 2 days and then have 4 days off!  I honestly can't remember what we did on Thursday, oops.

Friday was fun- Tim had to work all day so I got the babies up and dressed and we headed to a local bookstore for story time!  I was late and missed the actual story part.  Our friends, Christine, Hannah, and Sam met us there.  Ryan loves playing with Hannah & Sam and I love hanging out talking with Christine.  She is a friend from work.  I had mentioned them once before, Hannah was in my second grade class two years ago.  Later on that night, I took the babies to the carnival at my school.  They had it last year too, and I had a bunch of left over tickets saved and they let me use them.  Hannah, Ryan, and I went into the mirror door fun house.  Ryan was SO funny, he didn't know what to think.  He was walking with his hands out in front of him.  He actually walked straight into the wall twice and I laughed so hard I could barely breathe.  Ryan loved it.  I took Ryan on the big slides they always have at carnivals, I sat him between my legs and held onto his hands, I could hear his little baby giggle the whole way down the slide!  It made my heart happy.  Hannah took Ryan on the little train ride.  He rode it last year too, but he was only 8m old then.

On Saturday we went to the carnival again that night.  Before we left the house we took some pictures!

My whole world <3

Ryan was a lot better in the fun house!  Tim let him walk around and Ryan just kept going back and forth so Tim finally led him out!

He rode on the airplane ride with Hannah.  Honestly, I was afraid he would try to get out or freak out once the ride started.  But he was so excited, he kept turning the steering wheel and he was waving at me.  He smiled at us every time he past by us! - Well, when he was paying attention to us.

He went through the funhouse again and thought it was so much fun to see Sam on the other side of the glass.

Ryan went on the trains with Hannah.

After they were done with all the rides, they started playing on the jungle gym.  Hannah and Sam were dropping Ryan off at the top of the slide and Tim was catching him at the bottom.  Ryan looved it.

It was freezing and I was wearing a tanktop so we all decided it was time to go home.  & by this time it was 10:00 at night!  I'm glad Ryan wasn't cranky.

Holding hands.

Ryan's bracelet from the carnival, I had to get a picture because it looked so cute on his tiny wrist.

Ryan was so so cute on Saturday night.  It was so fun to watch him ride rides.  I'll never get over just how big he is getting.  He's hardly a baby anymore.  He runs and plays and went on rides!  He's such a big kid.  I think Tim and I spent the whole night smiling at how cute Ryan was.

I can't forget about Jake!  Does anyone else think that babies look so cute in the little gowns??

Ryan concentrating on keeping his little pom poms on the lid of a box!  He did a pretty good job @ it too.

& Pictures from today.

We spent about 20 minutes reading books tonight.  Ryan kept getting books and then he would come sit in my lap with his blankets and his milk and listen to me read his books.  He is so sweet.

Tired.

Taking care of two little babies can be so tiring.  Some days it's super fun, filled with playing, smiles, giggles, all the fun stuff.  Today started out nice.  Both the babies slept until about 10:30.  I'm a big sleeper too so I could have slept in longer, if they let me.  Ryan and I went downstairs to eat breakfast and watch Barney.  We came back upstairs to get Jake when I heard him making noises.  We played for a while.  I sat on the couch with my legs up and Jake laying on my legs.  I spent a good amount of time just looking at him and talking to him.  He was just staring at my face.  I was thinking how Ryan and I spent so many of our days like that.  But I don't get to do it as much with Jake because Ryan needs my attention too.

I laid Ryan down for a nap at about 2:15 because he woke up so late.  I wasn't too sure if he would sleep.  He didn't.  He played in his crib for an hour which gave me time to get things done around the house.

After Ryan's quiet time, I put Jake in the carrier and Ryan got into his cop car and we went on a long walk.  I was watching Ryan who was admiring the view.  The lovely dirt and weeds that Arizona has :)

When we got back home it was already time to cook dinner.  I wanted to make enchiladas.  I should have decided to just pop something in the microwave instead.  Enchiladas has too many steps.  When I was putting the corn tortillas in the oil on the stove, Jake started crying.  I had to wash my hands and give him his pacifier, again and again and again.  Ryan decided to pull all of the stuff out of one of the cabinets.  He pulls out all the mixing bowls and baking stuff.  Which I don't mind, except he slipped and fell on the pie pans and started crying.  & Now Ryan's whining at me wanting to be held.  Okay- moms can totally cook dinner one handed.  Until it's time fill the tortillas with cheese and roll up my enchiladas.  Then cooking one handed is not so easy anymore.  Jake just let out a loud juicy fart- diaper change!  Back to my enchiladas, but Ryan's super whiney because he's hungry so I give in and give the kid some graham crackers.  Which leads to tiny little crumbs all over the floor and my baking stuff and mixing bowls are still all over my downstairs.

I am not good with messes.  Enchiladas are finally done cooking.  I make Ryan up a plate of enchiladas and give him a side of yogurt- gross, I know.  But now I can finally pick up all the bowls.  Picking up the bowls and I see Ryan smearing yogurt all over his tray.  Bowls are now on hold because I need to feed Ryan his yogurt before it's all over the place.  Before I can do that, I have to pick up Jake who had just started crying, and now I can feed Ryan his yogurt.  He eats it all up and I go to throw away the yogurt cup when I hear a loud noise.  Plate with enchiladas and fork is now upside down on the floor.

Dinner was not a success.   Today was one of those rare days when I'm happy it's finaaaally bedtime!  I sat down to write in my blog and Ryan starts screaming from his crib.  I went in there and he points to a toy on the floor. Really kid?  Okay so I pick up the toy and give it to him and now he's happily playing.  Came back to the computer- wrote a little more.  Jake starts screaming- so now I'm nursing him and typing this out.

Good thing mommas are great multi taskers!  So, while I do love being a mom more than anything in the world, not every day is easy.

Here are some pictures from last week.

Jake's first bottle! 2.20.12

2nd smile caught on camera :)

This WAS a successful dinner.  Applesauce that actually made it in his mouth without any help from momma, mac and cheese, and mixed veggies.

Back to work

I uploaded these pictures a few days ago and never got the chance to actually write anything down.  I don't have much to say.  I had 66 days off of work, and as of Tuesday- I am again, a working mommy.  Being a working mom is soo exhausting.  I forgot how tiring it is to work all day and then come home to my babies.  I've said it before, but I really do have the best of both worlds when it comes to my job and being a mom.  I have the absolute best job in the world.  Spend all day with 27 kids who are awesome, then come home to spend the rest of the evening with my family. =)

I wanted to ease back into work.  I didn't go in on Monday, it was my long term subs last day.  I went in on Tuesday- we went on a field trip to the Desert Museum.  Tim met me there with Ryan and Jake so I was able to spend a few hours with them.  That night I went to bed at 8:45pm.  See what I mean-exhausting!  Wednesday is half day, plus it was Grandparents' Day.  After school got out for the day  I made a bunch of copies.  Being gone for 7 weeks, I have a lot to catch up on.  Today and tomorrow we have off for Rodeo Break!  Rodeo is a big thing here in Tucson and all the schools get a 4 day weekend.  I'm glad Tucson cares more about rodeos than presidents!

Ryan on 2/16/12- 20 months old!!

The babies were ANGELS for daddy yesterday!  What the heck?  haha.  I've been so nervous that Tim would have a nervous breakdown or something watching the kids.  Nope-  Jake slept ALLL day long yesterday and only woke up to eat.  & Ryan took a 4 hour nap.  Seriously??  Maybe they are just trying to ease him in.

Ryan turned 20 months old last week!  That means in less than 4 months he will be two!  I've been trying to plan his birthday party.   I have the theme, location, food menu, and thanks to Pinterest- lots of decoration ideas!  I have his shirt picked out on Etsy- just need to buy it.  I'm going to buy the boys personalized birthday shirts every year and make them wear them until it's not cool anymore.

This post is random and that's all I have to say for now!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day this year was nothing special, but it was nice to spend it with my three most favorite people in the world. <3  I dressed myself and the boys in Valentine's Day colors.

After Ryan's nap I remembered he had a suit!  I made him wear it for the rest of the day, he was sooo cute.  I couldn't stop staring at him.  Handsome little man.

Jake's first smile on camera :)

We made daddy a picture using Ryan's handprints and Jake's feetprint.  I had this handprint kit I got from my baby shower with Ryan- I finally had him do it!  Geez.  I have an extra so I still need to do Jake's.  We ran a few errands.  Then I came home and made pizza for the boys!  Too bad I couldn't have any.  Boo.  I had chicken and rice soup instead.

This is the picture Ryan painted last week before he started eating the paint.

My friend, Christine came over today with her two kids.  Her daughter, Hannah, was in my class two years ago.  Hannah brought Valentine's for us :)  Mine is hanging on the fridge.  Soo cute.

Talked to my mom today.  My dad had a candle lit dinner for her when she got home &&& homemade chocolate dipped strawberries!

I hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day with their families too.  Happy Valentine's Day!

I had to come back and edit this- Ryan got is 9th tooth yesterday!  Bottom left.  He's going to look funny w/ three on the bottom until the bottom right pops through.

A day at the park

Yesterday both of the babies slept til about 10:15!  I love when they sleep in and I can sleep in too.  It's a nice surprise!

Ryan and Jake recieved a Valentine from Peyton!  We actually got it Saturday but I forgot to show Ryan!  He started running around the house with it so I had to steal it from him before he bent it.  He's going through a fabulous stage of crying when you take something away from him.  Shortly after breakfast we packed up and went to the park. We spent a few hours there.  I'm excited to take a lot more trips to the park this year and watch Ryan explore.

On our way to the park!

The park was a lot of fun.  The weather was awesome.  I spent most of the time watching Tim & Ryan play because I had to hold Jake.  I could watch Ryan play for hours, he's the cutest little thing.  He was brave enough to start going down the slides by himself.  He loves walking around and looking at things.  He likes picking up the woodchips and throwing them too.

Last night we pulled out one of Ryan's Christmas presents.  It was still sitting in the closet in the box.  Ryan got a lot of toys so I kept some hidden and I'll open them later.  I also put away a few of his bigger toys so he can have a break from them and enjoy them later on.  He was very excited about his workhorse.

Tim & I watched "Courageous."  Good movie.  We gave both the babies a bath and played in Ryan's room before we put them to bed.

I want more days like yesterday, sleeping in and spending most of the day outside.

JTR- 1 month old

Here are some pictures from Jake's 1 month shoot on the 30th.

I have said it a million times, life goes by so much faster when you share it with your child.  I am more than blessed to have the two most beautiful little babies.  Jake is already 5 weeks and 1 day old.  I thought my pregnancy flew by, but these last 36 days have gone by so much quicker.  I wish I could slow down time to spend more time with my boys enjoying every moment with them.  Jake has recently started smiling and it melts my heart.  I love his big gummy grin.

I have always thought Jake cried more than Ryan did when he was a newborn.  When Jake turned 3 weeks old, his crying became worse.  It was more like screaming.  Every time he was awake, he would cry.  The only thing I could do to get him to stop was take him outside for a walk.  Last Sunday (4w2d) was the worst.  He was non stop screaming for a few hours and nothing would calm him down.  It seemed like his tummy was hurting him, he was very gassy.  I read online that milk can cause babies to have gas pains.

On Thursday night I gave both babies a bath and wrapped them in their towels.  When I unwrapped Jake's towel I noticed he had a little poop with blood in it.  It was about the size of a quarter.  I called Tim upstairs and he googled it while I finished getting the babies ready for bed.  Almost everything online said it could be a milk allergy but a few things seemed to be pretty serious.  I called the doctor's office and an oncall nurse called us back.  She said that since Jake is so young we should take him to the ER.  Thankfully, Tim's sister lives pretty close so she came over to hang out while Ryan slept.  We got to the ER around 10:10pm.  They checked Jake out, the doctor didn't seem to be too concerned.  I told him that we looked online and a lot of stuff pointed to milk allergies.  The doctor kind of blew it off and said that a lot of people think babies/kids have these allergies when they really don't.  We had to wait for Jake to poop again so they could test it.  When Jake finally did poop, the nurse took it back for testing.  Then the doctor came and told us that he had spoke to a doctor at Jake's pediatrician's office who said the same thing about milk.  Geez, this guy did not know much about babies.  He had also mentioned something about it being my blood from when Jake was in my tummy.  Weird.  He then said we could be discharged but we had to schedule an appt. with his pediatrician the following day.

We took Jake to his pediatrician yesterday afternoon.  He was 9.3lbs!  He's getting big.  Anyways, they did some testing on his poop and found blood in his poop.  Which made me a little sad, because it wasn't even visible.  I would have never thought he had blood in his poop.  So I'm glad we saw so much of it on Thursday.  So, Jake has a milk protein allergy.  Most babies outgrow it by the time they are a year old.  This is also causing him to be so fussy.  =(  Poor little baby.

No more dairy for momma.  Which is also a little sad.  There is dairy in so much stuff!  Milk, mashed potatos, mac & cheese, pizza, quesadillas, cream cheese, cheese its, butter, and the list goes on and on.

He has been so sweet today.  When he woke up in the morning he was just laying in bed with me staring at the ceiling.  He's just been hanging out in his swing and my lap, not fussy at all!  Now I can enjoy him a little more ;)
